"I am an avid Harley rider and before treatment, I was not able to walk correctly right after getting off my motorcycle. After only a few treatments of Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression and adjustments, I went for a trip that consisted of a 953 mile round trip motorcycle ride. I was able to do so with NO pain and was able to walk upright at each stop. I feel great and have referred several people to this office and Dr. Hanczaryk."

Dr. Christine Hanczaryk

Chiropractor

My first love for chiropractic came at a very early age-actually, I’m sure I was innately born with it. My father is a chiropractor and from the day I could say adjust me I knew it was the career path I would be taking. At the end of the day, my goal is thriving on being who I am and telling it like it is. Come see us to experience what it’s like for us to assist your body in a life change. My father always said “when your body is in a state of dis-ease, the disease process begins.” This could not be more true. We live our lives to the fullest and because of this normal wear and tear happens to our bodies. With that said, losing your passions because of pain and needing to get your life back is not normal and is not wear and tear. My passion for not only chiropractic care but the human heart and soul is what makes me different. I truly care. You as the patients are my first priority. I have made it my life’s mission to get as many people under chiropractic care as I can so they can live the life they deserve. No matter the circumstance, it can always be better. Step in to our urban retreat and we will prove to you that you can change your life and live at the potential you deserve. Welcome to our home!

Testimonials

Chiropractic Care

What Is Chiropractic?

Welcome new, veteran and prospective chiropractic patients!Thank you in advance for taking the time to discover chiropractic and its powerful effects on human health. Each year more than 15 million North Americans choose chiropractic for safe, natural and effective relief from back pain, neck pain, headaches, extremity pain, poor overall health, low energy levels and much more.

The Goal Of Chiropractic

Because chiropractic treatments are primarily applied to the spinal region, many individuals incorrectly assume that chiropractors treat only back and neck ailments. While we do quickly and effectively eliminate back and neck pain, it’s not the only goal. The objective is to restore and optimize human health. In fact, according to a statement from The Association of Chiropractic Colleges, “The purpose of chiropractic is to optimize health.”

What Chiropractors Do

Practically speaking, chiropractors are primarily concerned with locating and treating vertebral subluxations.A vertebral subluxation is a complex of functional and/or structural and/or pathological articular (joint) changes that compromise neural integrity and may influence organ system function and general health.Using a number of unique and highly refined skills, the chiropractor checks the patient’s spine for any misalignments, fixations or other abnormalities (vertebral subluxations). If subluxations or other abnormalities are detected, the chiropractor will generally apply a gentle force in a corrective manner to the affected spinal area.Chiropractors use many specialized techniques to identify and treat these spinal abnormalities and optimize overall health. In addition to spinal adjustive techniques, soft tissue techniques such as massage, dietary and nutritional counseling, physical therapies, and lifestyle modification programs are commonly employed.

How Chiropractic Differs

There is a significant and very important difference between the way chiropractors and medical doctors approach health ailments. When evaluating and treating patients, chiropractors take a holistic approach which includes identifying and correcting the cause(s) of the patient’s health ailment. In contrast, the medical approach tends to focus more on the treating the symptoms of a condition rather than focusing primarily on the actual cause(s).Chiropractors believe that correcting the cause of the problem provides significant long-term benefits over only treating the symptoms.

How Chiropractic Works

You may be wondering… how can the same chiropractic treatment which effectively treats my back pain also optimize my health? The answer can be found by looking into the relationship between the spine and the nervous system. As you may already know, the nervous system is the master controller of all living cells, tissues and organs; orchestrating and coordinating all cellular functions. The spinal column encases the nervous system (spinal cord and nerve roots) and is responsible for its protection.Because of this intimate relationship, biomechanical and structural problems in the spinal column can irritate parts of the enclosed nervous system. This irritation can result from noxious inflammatory biochemicals released during tissue injury or may result from direct mechanical pressure. In either case, the functioning of the nervous system is negatively influenced as is the functioning of the cells, tissues and organs which are supplied by the affected nerve(s).The resulting ailment(s) depends on the cells, tissues and organs affected as well as the extent of nervous system compromise. In short, because the body’s innate recuperative powers are affected by and integrated through the nervous system, correcting spinal abnormalities which irritate the nervous system can lead to a number of favorable results in patients suffering from various, seemingly non-spinal health conditions.

Massage Therapy

Types Of Massage

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy (also called CST, also spelled CranioSacral bodywork or therapy) is an alternative medicine therapy used by osteopaths, massage therapists, naturopaths, chiropractors, and occupational therapists. A craniosacral therapy session involves the therapist placing their hands on the patient, which they say allows them to tune into what they call the craniosacral system. The practitioner gently works with the spine and the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia. In this way, the restrictions of nerve passages are said to be eased, the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord is said to be optimized, and misaligned bones are said to be restored to their proper position. Craniosacral therapists use the therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.[2]

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage is similar to massage during non-pregnancy in terms of the goals (relaxation, pain relief, increased circulation & mobility, etc.). However, due to the changes undergone during pregnancy, modification are made. To accommodate swollen tender breasts and a growing belly, special pillows, positioning and techniques are utilized to ensure comfort for both the expecting mother and baby. With increasing weight, a changing center of gravity and the many other changes associated with pregnancy, prenatal massage can help provide relief and a sense of well being that is much deserved.[1]

Sports Massage

Sports massage is actually a form of Swedish massage that is delivered to athletes. Most commonly, sports massage focuses on increasing blood and lymphatic fluid flow, reducing and eliminating pain as well as tender trigger points, and increasing range of motion of the affected area. Sports massages can be broken into 4 distinct types – the pre-event sports massage, the post-event sports massage, the restorative sports massage and the rehabilitative sports massage. As the names indicate, each type of sports massage has a different focus for the athlete as they are delivered at different times during their training and performance schedule.[1]

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points or trigger sites are described as hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. Trigger point practitioners believe that palpable nodules are small contraction knots[ambiguous] and a common cause of pain. Compression of a trigger point may elicit local tenderness, referred pain, or local twitch response. The local twitch response is not the same as a muscle spasm. This is because a muscle spasm refers to the entire muscle entirely contracting whereas the local twitch response also refers to the entire muscle but only involves a small twitch, no contraction. The trigger point model states that unexplained pain frequently radiates from these points of local tenderness to broader areas, sometimes distant from the trigger point itself. Practitioners claim to have identified reliable referred pain patterns, allowing practitioners to associate pain in one location with trigger points elsewhere.[2]

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two. Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling.[2]

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction and accompanying pain and restriction of motion. This is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation, increasing venous and lymphatic drainage, and stimulating the stretch reflex of muscles and overlying fascia.[2]

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy, formerly called hydropathy involves the use of water for pain-relief and treating illness. The term hydrotherapy itself is synonymous with the term water cure as it was originally marketed by practitioners and promoters in the 1800s. A hydrotherapist therefore, is someone who practices hydrotherapy. According to the International SPA Association (ISPA), hydrotherapy has long been a staple in European spas. It’s the generic term for water therapies using jets, underwater massage and mineral baths (e.g. balneotherapy, Iodine-Grine therapy, Kneipp treatments, Scotch hose, Swiss shower, thalassotherapy) and others. It also can mean a whirlpool bath, hot Roman bath, hot tub, Jacuzzi, cold plunge and mineral bath. These treatments use physical water properties, such as temperature and pressure, for therapeutic purposes, to stimulate blood circulation and treat the symptoms of certain diseases.[2]

Shiatsu

Shiatsu (指圧) (“shi” meaning finger and “atsu” meaning pressure.) is an eastern (oriental) born therapy that uses pressure applied with thumbs, fingers and palms to the same energy meridians as acupressure and incorporates stretching. It also uses techniques such as rolling, brushing, vibrating, grasping and in one particular technique developed by Suzuki Yamamoto, pressure is applied with the feet on the persons back, legs and feet (special set up is required for the “foot” shiatsu).[2]

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee over a period of eight weeks. It has also been shown to be helpful in individuals with poor circulation. The development of Swedish massage is credited to Per Henrik Ling, though the Dutch practitioner Johan Georg Mezger adopted the French names to denote the basic strokes. The term “Swedish” massage is not really known in the country of Sweden, where it is called “classic massage”.[2]

Q: Am I a candidate for the DRX9000?A: If you can answer yes to the following questions:

  • Have you been diagnosed with sciatica or a herniated disc?

  • Have you tried pills and muscle relaxants without success?

  • Has your back or neck caused you to miss work?

  • Did extended bed rest fail to improve your back?

  • Is your back stiff from arthritis or spinal imbalance?

  • Does your back feel like it is out of alignment?

  • Do you have difficulty sleeping through the night?

  • Have you been told surgery is the only answer?

If so, contact us immediately to schedule a further consultation for your condition.

Q: When can I schedule an appointment for a consultation with the doctors?A: Call and speak to any of our capable staff members. Mention that you are interested in a consultation for the DRX9000 Spinal Decompression. We will take some of your information over the phone, and get you set up with an appointment time.Q: If I qualify, what do I need to bring with me on my first visit?A: Copies or reports of your MRI’s, as well as any diagnostic tests you may have had indicating your condition. It will also benefit you if you go to the New Patient Center of our web page, and print out the required online forms for your consultation with the doctor, fill them out, and bring them with you.Q: What is the success rate for the DRX9000 Spinal Decompression Treatment?A: The success rate for patients who undergo spinal decompression treatment is an astounding 88.9%, compared to surgeries and spinal fusion that report only a 30-40% success rate. Additionally, 60% of spinal fusion patients continue to suffer from back pain, post-operation. A full recovery is uncommon.Q: How does the DRX9000 actually work?A: The DRX imparts a negative pressure into the disc, which essentially creates a vacuum, moving the disc back into it’s original position. It creates space in the back of the spine, reducing herniation and restoring the flow of blood to a disc that has no blood supply. This negative pressure pushes healing nutrients and restorative spinal fluids into the disc, reducing pain and opening the space occupied by the nerve.Q: Am I the only one that is suffering from this condition?A: Low back pain is the 3rd leading cause for hospital admissions. It is a condition that affects so many people worldwide, but with treatment through spinal decompression, there is finally an option for back pain sufferers other than surgery. Your condition is unique, and this treatment could be standing between you and the operating table.Q: Is treatment on the DRX9000 painful?A: No. The DRX9000 is non-invasive, non-surgical, and virtually pain-free. There are no prescription drugs involved, and in fact most patients report experiencing a 50% reduction in pain after the first treatment.Q: How does treatment on the DRX 9000 Compare to other surgical treatment options?A:To answer this question, we’ve prepared a list of comparisons for you to view. It requires Microsoft Word to view, and you can click here to read it.Q: Will my insurance pay for this treatment?A: For the spinal decompression treatment outline, it is possible a certain portion of your treatment may be covered. At your first consultation, we can verify any coverage you may have, and our insurance department will discuss that information with you then.Q: What payment options do you accept?A: We have different plans for Cash, Check, or personal Credit Card Payments. We also offer financing through Chase Health Advance. If you are interested in filling out a Financing application in advance, click here.
